FASHION FORWARD

Fashion Forward was held at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai from October 22 to 25. It attracted some very big names in the fashion industry  from designers and journalists to bloggers and buyers. We followed the event with eager eyes and cannot wait to share some the highlights of the event with you

The Starch foundation opened the runway shows that showcased its wide range of talented designers. If you diligently follow our blog, then you will recognize two designers we have previously covered.

Mira Hayek has once again conquered graphic forms with her skaters skirts, ruffled dresses, and exceptional talent for mixing comfort and chic. The Nour Najem fashion show was the reflection of the sensuality, intelligence and modernity of the young designer. She rendered us speechless with her choice of materials and attention to detail in each of her creations. Alongside these two women, we were delighted to meet the talented Joe Arida, a Lebanese designer behind the brand La Terre Est Folle. We fell for his unisex black T-shirts that featured colorfully wild patterns.

We can talk all day about the many shows we loved, but there’s one in particular that piqued our interest. In fact, we considered it the climax of the event!  Thus, we are proud to introduce the incredible designs of Jordanian Nafsika Skourti. Picture this: camouflage prints and neon monochrome assembled on a patchwork dress, Arabic calligraphy coexisting with childish drawings. The art of Nafsika offers a unique sense of beauty that left everyone at his show in a state of wonder.

Next, designer Hussein Bazaza’s Persian inspired collection regaled us with a runway show in which every sense was elicited. Everything in the artistic and technical details from the music to the lighting worked together to perfectly capture this collection of noble design and soft colors. Its coherent and powerful message is what really captured our attention.

We already had a crush on their collection seen at the Tranoï lounge during Fashion Week in Paris, and it was a pleasure to see them again at their show in Dubai. These are the winners of the Regional Woolmark Prize, Taller Marmo. Our favorite? Their vertical stripes that we would love to wear next spring on the French Riviera.
