HUSSEIN BAZAZA

Our designer of the month, Hussein Bazaza, is one to watch! Here is just a sampling of award he has garnered over the last several years: winner of the 2013 “Elle Style” award for the Middle East, “Best Upcoming Middle East Designer” from the Middle-East Fashion Awards. It is clear to see that this emerging young designer is attracting plenty of attention. We were lucky to meet Hussein Bazaza in the lobby of The Address hotel as he prepared to compete in a competition from Vogue Italia called “Who is on next? ” at the Dubai mall. Not surprisingly, Bazaza added this award to his growing list of accomplishment. Passed by the Maison Rabih Kayrouz and Elie Saab, his resume offers plenty to impress the fashion world.

Our first encounter with the world of Hussein Bazaza took place during his show at Dubai Fashion Forward. It revealed the beauty and intelligence of the designer- especially in the selection of cuts, colors, and materials.

Bazaza is the kind of artist who projects his personality into his creations. For example, it is easy to see Hussein’s work and influence in his dresses. We had the great fortune to dine with him and meet the young man who was behind the designs that have taken the fashion world by storm. There is the feeling of freshness and spontaneity in his designs and personality. Furthermore, there is clear sophistication, application and attention to detail. Hussein is serious about his work, but he does not take life or inspiration for granted.

 

His latest collection, “Mithra,” is inspired by Persia as seen in certain prints. Hussein did not simply replicate Persian rug designs on robes. Instead, he took his design ideas from personal understanding of famous public places. Persia in Hussein’s eyes is full of lace and asymmetrical cuts. Persia is Rock with Hussein. Persia blends easily into the streets of London, Berlin or Paris.
