ZENA PRESLEY

In Dubai last October we had an appointment with the beautiful Zena Presley that we discovered during Dubai Fashion Forward. It’s was a nice enough morning where we could chat on a cafe terrace. It was in a residential area next to the Greens where we found ourselves forgetting the hustle and bustle of this breathtaking city…

We discussed her collection and asked her to tell us a little more of her story because we loved her very artistic brand. Thus, it was then Zena tells us she loves art and that it has been an integral part of her since childhood. Inspired to combine art and fashion into a clothing brand, Zena created her first collection earlier this year by collaborating with artists from the Arab world. The idea was to make art accessible to women and to carry it throughout her creations. Accessible art passing as fashion is something we can definitely appreciate!

 

Thus, through her collections, Zena achieves a perfect balance of strength and femininity. It depicts the world subjectively by radically distorting it to evoke moods or ideas. In advocating self-expression through art, Zena created her latest collection which is available now in our shop. The artwork printed on the various styles have been carefully chosen from works of Arab expressionists such as Syrian artists Saad Yagan, Bahram Hajou, and Egyptian artist Wael Darwish.

 

Zena’s second collection, presented in Dubai Fashion Forward, seeks to dictate an emotional experience through fashion just as the expressionist movement did with art. Zena has demonstrated an excellent collection full of fluid cuts and vibrant colors- red, blue, and yellow, much to our delight! We also loved the juxtaposition of oversized, bulky silhouettes which blended perfectly with an elegant and minimalist style.
